Community theatre is a form of theater production involving local volunteers, not professional actors, and is often run as a social and artistic activity. It is a way for people to engage in the performing arts, learn new skills, and contribute to the cultural life of their community. Community theaters typically rely on volunteers for all aspects of production, from acting and directing to set design and costume creation.

The Building

Originally built in 1895, this reconstructed brick building once served as the Fermenting House of the Meadville Distillery Complex. Today the structure supports the Meadville Community Theatre and French Creek Community Theatre and is part of the broader cultural and arts redevelopment of the historic distillery property.
